IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/Fox28) -- Starting Monday, folks in Iowa City will have a new, convenient way to interact with their city officials, whether it be issues with a neighbor's unkept yard or a loud house party, or suggestions to make the city better. They're able to snap a picture of it, and send it to us,€ said Senior Housing Inspector, Stan Laverman. The new smartphone app, IcgovXpress, allows residents to snap of photo, file a complaint or suggestion, and receive feedback from city officials. The goal is to create another convenient way for citizens to communicate with the city of Iowa City, said Laverman. City leaders are using a creative Youtube promotion to get the word out. The hope is the app will allow the city to address issues in the neighborhood more easily. The complaint isn't just going into the void. You know that it was received. You can call us back up and say, what happened to complaint 223? said Laverman. With the number system, residents can remain anonymous. The city is hosting an open house Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Emma Harvat Hall in City Hall, to show folks the new app system.
