My 2 year old british appaloosa gelding hitting the grass for the first time in 6 months; I took the precaution of taking his mother for a 3 hour ride on Dartmoor before-hand , to make sure she was too knackered to join in the madness !

First time he has been free in MONTHS? Are you kidding me? Horses aren't meant to live in a stall, no wonder he went crazy. Poor horse!

Using a stable that has both a summer and winter pasture would be mighty kind to the horse. I know that's not always an option at stables with limited acreage, but the horses surely appreciate it.

It was winter. They have to live in stables in the winter so the grass doesnt get ruined.

Why was he kept from pasture for 6 months?
