Greetings!!! We share exciting news!!! Green Ambassadors of Houston East End Greenbelt are heading to the nation’s capital! The team will be sharing their experiences and stories of the green movement at The 2015 National Environmental Justice Conference and Training Program at The Howard University School of Law. The team is super excited to connect! The Friends of the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas (FriendsNFGT) is excited to sponsor 8 Houston East End High School students (The Green Institute at Furr High School, Austin High School and Jackson Middle School) and 4 youth and adult leaders for a 10 day trip to our nation’s capital. The selected participants have been invited to make a special presentations at the National Environmental Justice Conference. These presentations will highlight their work in their schools and their community as East End Greenbelt-GreenSchools! Green Ambassadors. As well, these dynamic youth leaders will be spending 7 days visiting, presenting and learning from various partner organizations that include National Project Learning Tree-GreenSchools!, USDA U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, NRCS, and many others.
The funding to cover the expenses related to this once in a lifetime opportunity are being raised by each participant with an individual goal of $1200 each. Your generous support will make this experience possible. If you wish, your donation will be a tax deductible contribution to the FriendsNFGT for Green Ambassadors. Checks should be made payable to FriendsNFGT with the recipients name noted on the check. You may mail your check to FriendsNFGT, PO Box 631512, Nacogdoches, TX 75963.
