Regent Street was transformed into a pop-up circus spectacular for the Regent Street Festival, Sunday 2 September, a traffic free live street event.
Over 240 international circus artistes entertained Regent Street visitors and shoppers including; high wire trapeze artists, jugglers, stilt acrobats, tightrope walkers and contemporary clowns. All the Regent Street shops, restaurants and bars continued the theme throughout their venues.
The grand finale for the event took place at 8pm with the UK premiere of Place des Anges, featuring aerial artists performing on zip wires over Piccadilly Circus, throughout the display the spectators were showered with thousands of beautiful white feathers.
This event was a tremendous success and received a tremendous amount of publicity. Meanwhile all the shops along Regent Street had in-store activities and a 10% discount. The restaurants in the food quarters, Heddon Street and Swallow Street, served special menus, cocktails and free entertainment.
