"As media companies face an increasingly fragmented viewing environment, JB Perrette discusses how Discovery - one of the biggest media players - is tackling the future and redefining its business model 30 years on. Perrette joined Discovery in October 2011 as Chief Digital Officer, charged with building bestin-class digital and technology organizations to help establish the company’s industry-leading presence in the digital media field. In that role, he refocused and reinforced the company’s leadership as the number one non-fiction video company across all screens, and more than quadrupled the size of Discovery’s on-line video business. Perrette led the acquisitions of Revision3 and DeFranco Creative, strategic investments in Lumosity and Learnist, and the launches of online video networks TestTube and Animalist, enhancing Discovery’s offering and deepening viewer engagement across multiple screens.
