Driver: #15 Mauricio Gugelmin (Brazil) Car: Leyton House March 881 Engine: Judd CV, 3496 cc, 76° V8, Normally Aspirated Grand Prix 2 power rating in race/qualifying: 570/590 HP Tyres: Goodyear 'B' compound Gearbox: March 6-speed manual Difficulty: Ace (no driver aids)
Another fastest lap for Gugelmin. Senna lapped the entire field. Had Piquet finished it would've made for an all Brazilian podium. Prost encountered unknown problems but managed to crawl back up to 7th. Capelli was running strongly in the points before retiring near the end. Nevertheless, March-Judd are now just two points behind Ferrari since they both retired. For the drivers, Prost is ahead of Senna by a single point. I am defending 3rd place with a ten point advantage; 2nd is highly unlikely since Prost needs one point and Senna two points to secure 2nd. Technically the championship is still within reach: if both McLarens retire from the last two races, and Gugelmin wins both, then it will be 66 points for both Prost (4 wins) and Gugelmin (5 wins), giving the title to Gugelmin.
