CHICKASHA -- Sitting in the middle of the pack with just two conference series left, the Drover baseball players hold their fate in their hands.

"The last few series we've really done a lot better," said senior Brandon Jewett. "It's a slow start. Not really the start we wanted, but we're coming around as a team and together. We're planning on having a good tournament."

Jewett has served as USAO's designated hitter the last two seasons. He's had a total of 53 runs and 64 RBIs in his two years as a Drover. He describes his role on the team as being on to consistently deliver from the plate.

"Hit the ball far and hard. Score runs for us. Get on for us. That's kind of been my role the last few years," Jewett said.

Jewett had been out of baseball for a year when Coach Mike Ross and Assistant Matt Hibbitts decided to take a chance on the athlete.

"They really gave me a great opportunity," Jewett said. "I'm really grateful for them."
