"A U.S. soldier who fled to Canada to avoid the war in Iraq has been arrested and detained at the U.S. border after losing her deportation case. Kimberly Rivera, who lived in Canada for five years with her husband and four children, was issued a deportation order last month and given until Sept. 20 to leave the country. The War Resisters Support Campaign said in a statement Thursday that Rivera presented herself at the U.S. border on Thursday and was arrested and transferred to military custody. They said her family crossed separately so her kids wouldn't see her arrested...".* Ana Kasparian, Cenk Uygur, Kimani David (TYT Community Ambassador) and comedian Jimmy Dore discuss on The Young Turks.

Then don't join the damn military. If you know anything about contemporary American history, America goes to war a lot.

You make the decision to join the military knowing damn well that there might be a war you disagree with.  Vietnam was different, there was conscription. With Iraq, everybody volunteered to join the military.

There is NO draft today. They walked into a recruiting center and made the choice to serve. I'm sorry my country actually decides who they allow here. Stop talking about Vietnam. No conscription today = no comparison. She Has no right to be here. Your troops coming here DON'T want to be in Canada. They come here to try and avoid prison and because Canada is similar to the US. They don't give a flying you know what about Canada. They come here to save their own ass. Why should they be allowed here when Canadian Forces members actually deploy as part of their commitment to Canada. So let them stay there while my military serves their commitment and keeps them safe? If you want to emigrate to Canada, apply to the Federal Government like folks everywhere do. Don't run across the border with a sad story and expect the Canadian Government to allow you stay!
We join the military because collage is do fucking expensive. really the military is the only choice for a lot of people who cant afford Collage.

Also...did you ever think that Canada was bullied into it by the American government. Doesn't sound like something Canada would do just to do

Sorry  Kimberly Rivera for getting kicked out of our country.Stephen Harper is ruining Canada.Everything our country stood for is slowly fading away because of one piece of shit government

The reasons people join the US military is in rare cases "tradition" and in the vast majority of cases the need for legal money. You dont want to shoot porn, you dont want to sell drugs, so you go to the military. Applaude for Capitalism everybody!
