The exam project for VKET is an electronic die. The die is based on a CPLD with 7 LEDs in a die formation as shown in Figure 1.When a push button is pressed the die must roll and when released the die must stop at a random side of 1 to 6.
The core of the die is a Xilinx XC9572/LC44 CPLD circuit which is programmable with the VHDL language. The assignment is divided in two parts: 1. You must make the PCB layout of the die using your acquired knowledge of OrCAD Capture and Layout. After approval of your layout you will have to produce the die, meaning that you have to drill, sold, and test it. 2. You must write a small VHDL program which runs the die as random as possible.
