Joseph C. Smith's Orchestra - Smiles (Fox-Trot), Victor 1918

NOTE: Joseph C. (Cyrus) Smith (born in 1881 or 83 in New York - died 1965 in Florida ) American musician, since ca. 1914 leading his own orchestra which was featuring regularily at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. He made numerous recordings of popular dance hits for Victor, Columbia, Brunswick. His arrangements show his attepmpts to jazz up a little the banal dance tunes of the time. Around 1923 he moved to Montreal, Canada and played at the Mount Royal Hotel. His last known recording is dated 1925 under the name "Joseph C. Smith and His Mount Royal Orchestra".
