My dad co-wrote this song with singer Jack Barlow and others in 1965. Barlow sang it on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry that year, and the record made it to #21 on Cashbox. Rockabilly legend Hayden Thompson recorded the song at about the same time at WJJD in Chicago. Remember those billboards with the girl with the black eye? The song is a take on the slogan Tareyton cigarettes used back in the 1960s.
