If one player stood out from the crowd, it had to be Paul Morphy. Every game Morphy played, was a masterpiece. Being very confident in his ability to take down even the most difficult of rival, Moprhy’s game against Theodor Knight only lasted 17 moves. Having gone for the King’s Gambit, you only need to see how comfortable Paul Morphy was in any game and against any rival. In this game against Theodor Knight, he started up without his Queenside rook and Knight and to finished in only 17 moves. Morphy was a Chess specialist because he knew how to find those gaps in people’s play, however small, and capitalised them to take full advantage.
