The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation moved another step closer to achieving its mission of basing a childrens hospital in Gainesville when it received the generous in-kind donation of preliminary, conceptual creative services from prominent architectural firm HOK. We are extremely fortunate to have HOK donate their creative expertise to bring the Foundations vision to life of a full service, world-class childrens hospital in Gainesville, said Horst Ferrero, Founder, Sebastian Ferrero Foundation. With HOKs assistance, the Foundation plans to use the preliminary visual of the childrens hospital to advance ongoing fundraising efforts.

The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation is a local non-profit organization that honors the memory of happy and healthy 3-year-old Sebastian Ferrero who died in 2007 from a hospital-administered overdose of medication, during a routine outpatient test, followed by a series of preventable medical errors. The Foundation was formed to advocate and fundraise for the safest and highest quality medical care for all children, and to establish a full service, world-class children's hospital in Gainesville to serve all children in North Central Florida, and beyond.

The immediate and overwhelming support the Ferreros received from community leaders, hundreds of parents and more than 150 local Pediatricians and Pediatric Specialists, validated the Foundation's mission. We share the Foundation with the community and want to give the youngest patients in our community a hospital built to meet their specific needs. We want Sebastian to be remembered as the little "hero" who brought us all together," said Luisa Ferrero, Founder, Sebastian Ferrero Foundation.

A facility that specializes in childrens medical needs further complements the already strong staff of world-class pediatricians and nursing staff here in Gainesville. The Foundations goal is to transform todays excellent pediatric care into the safest and most outstanding care provided within the warm environment of a full service dedicated childrens hospital. HOKs contribution of preliminary, conceptual design services will help visualize the developing ideas for the new childrens hospital. HOK, a globally renowned architectural firm, is a market leader in health care facilities, with a particular expertise in academic medical centers and pediatric care facilities.
