Pianist Jason Moran talks about the impact of winning the prestigious MacArthur award, also known as the "Genius Grant," a few years ago. He also talked about filling the shoes of Dr. Billy Taylor, as artistic director of the jazz program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This In Person with JazzTimes interview took place backstage inside Fort Adams at the 2012 Newport Jazz Festival, where Moran performed with Jack DeJohnette as well as with his own trio, The Bandwagon.
