Many people think of a Colorado River trip as big white water rapids and great camping spots along the river. But, another great advantage of doing a trip down here is the access to great hiking in the side canyons. And some of the side canyons down here are as they were hundreds and hundreds of years ago... not affected by dam flows and lot of the different visitations. These are places you couldn't hike to from the rim. They are either to hard logistically to have water or the routes are too dangerous. From the river we can hike up these canyons and experience these beautiful places; the waterfalls, and mossy coves, and things that you just don't relate to the Sonoran desert type of environment in Grand Canyon. Interview with boatman Dave Leoffler by Insider's Look host, Patrick Gamman.
