The latest to speak out against Amendment One - Dr. June Atkinson, North Carolina's state superintendent of public instruction. Asked about the May 8th ballot initiative in light of an anti-bullying bill passed by the General Assembly in 2009, Atkinson acknowledged they are working hard to combat an increase in bullying in the public schools.
"As adults we need to set a good example. And for that reason, I believe it's not the best interest of our children or our state for the amendment to pass," said Atkinson on Thursday.
