Stephanie Schrader, associate curator of drawings at the J. Paul Getty Museum, has been working with Peter Paul Rubens' "Man in Korean Costume" for years. She's noticed atypical qualities that push him beyond a standard costume rendering or even portrait study, and into a realm of imagination, exploration, and the 17th-century European desire to see more of the "Far East."
