Well, Egypt is seeking to turn a new page with a bold new addition – an extension of the Suez Canal, a waterway that connects the Mediterranean and Red Seas. On Thursday, President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi unveiled what he called “the new Suez Canal” and portrayed it as the boost needed for the country’s ailing economy after years of unrest. And in the US, July job numbers are out. American companies added 215,000 jobs for the month, according to the latest Labor Department report. Ameera David weighs in.
Then, Bianca Facchinei is joined by Bruce Schneier – chief technology officer at Resilient Systems, Inc. and fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School. Bruce gives us his take on the infamous 2014 Jeep Cherokee hack and tells us how government surveillance impacts social movements.
After the break, Bianca sits down with Greg Conti – director of the Army Cyber Institute at West Point. Greg tells us how well prepared US cities are to handle cyberattacks and gives us his take on the FBI’s staffing problem.
Afterwards, Ameera and Bianca talk about how Yodlee, a company who sells personal finance tools to banks, also began offering individual credit- and debit-card transaction data to investors, hedge funds, and research firms.
And in The Big Deal, Ameera and RT correspondent Manuel Rapalo continue the discussion on credit card security (or lack thereof).
