Recently, I've been pondering on whether or not to release my released videos as open source. What that specifically means is that I have an interest in releasing the .dmx files for all my videos, this is entirely experimental.
The reasoning behind this is not to repeat the reception Valve has garnered because of the release of the source files of 'Meet the Heavy, etc..." to the entire internet, I'd much rather use a more humbler excuse and say that this is a prime opportunity for the lot of us to learn from each other.
As a person with interest in both film/video games, I'm much more interested in the clockwork behind these titles instead of the final presentation. The culmination of ideas that lead to the result is infinitely more fascinating than said result.
I really have little concerns over people stealing my work and claiming it as their own, it's inevitable and I have no intention of fighting it.
So, from now on; I'll be releasing the source files for all of my work after a specific viewer threshold. Being realistic, I'll set that boundary for my next videos at 5k hits.
