Just like most labels fabricated by human society, race does not exist. Of course Racism is alive and well because people have allowed labels to define who they are rather than using who they are to define everything around them. When labels define people, we become mental slaves to these categorizing name tags. Thus, higher powers grant privileges, opportunities, and detriments according to these labels for discrimination.

DISCLAIMER: This was the beginning of my racial awareness and enlightenment to what it meant to be a Race. Not everything I'm saying here accurately depicts how I feel now about Race. Race is important. While I always wished it was something we could just drop, it will take a long time to get there. The only way we can rid ourselves of the problem of Race is by acknowledging it and fixing it. Race was a term created as a means of control and oppression to manipulate slavery to be even more profitable.

What Race do you check off on job and college applications?
What is Race, really?
As if separating ourselves as a species isn't enough to isolate us from nature of existence.
Just another label that humans use to feed their obsession of order and organization by categorizing.
We label food by their groups, calories, culture, spicy, mild. We label movies by genre. We label animals by species and breeds and all sorts of colors. We label humans by color, interests, age, health and wealth.
We just need to identify things as if we'll go crazy if everything didn't have a name attached to it.
It's crazy how you can easily be anything you want. I could mark 'White' on an application. Or Asian, Black, "Latino/Hispanic(shouldn't even be a Race but that's another story LOL)." Either way I wouldn't be lying.
I'm what you would call "mixed." Then again, you are too. Everyone is mixed. No one can say they're 100% Black or 100% White or 100% Asian. So since everyone is mixed, it kinda cancels it all out. People just mostly go by appearance when it comes to Race(or only their VERY immediate ancestry from less than a half dozen generations in).
I can choose whatever label I want to live by. The "White" crowd. The "Black" movement. The "Asian" crew. The "Latino" community. Or I can completely change the entire definition of every label. Because I have that power. As do you.
Maybe it's just me. I have just felt very uncomfortable to feel labeled by old white guys as a "Young oppressed Black adult who needs reformation." Or seen as "Lightskin Spanish" by Blacks.
Just seems very stupid to me. Race doesn't even really exist. But as long as there are legal labels and opportunities/privileges attached to those labels by our governments, we will always be separated instead of embracing each other as a mass consciousness.
As long as humans remain so obsessed with order, we will remain separately categorized.
