ONE WORLD CAMPAIGN – A Feed a Child Initiative
During the month of July in 2014, Jack Stone, Stone Studios International and Feed a Child aligned their brands in order to bring the world a message.
The song ‘One World’ was written and composed by Jack Stone in 2009. The song simply lay in wait for the right cause.
The catalyst for the One World Campaign sprung from the international outcry about the recent advert being labelled controversial and racist.
The team’s vision for the One World Campaign is to carry the message of the plight of children, not only in South Africa, but across the world – a call to come together. The team spent time in informal settlements to capture the harsh realities these children are faced with every day. The concept was explained to the residents who spontaneously took part in the filming. The children were asked what they would like to become when they grow up, none of the responses were scripted.
What is the chance that these children will ever grow up to become anything at all when faced with starvation each day? A hungry child cannot learn.
One in ten children suffers from severe malnutrition.
10% of children die within the first 12 months of life.
More than 25% of children are physically underdeveloped.
Consequences of malnutrition include growth stunting, anemia, decreased learning capacity and a weakened immune system.
Every 10 seconds, a child dies from hunger-related diseases.
Poor nutrition causes 45% of deaths in children under five.
Across the world, 8 500 children die every day because of famine and undernourishment.

What you will witness in this video is the harsh reality of the circumstances in which families live, their struggle to stay alive and feed their families, and the hope to see a new day dawn for their children.
The message behind this video/advert is not to entice the viewer to give and support, rather to create awareness of the enormous task that Feed a Child is faced with each day to save our children – our future – from starvation. The footage bears witness to the dire need of these children and leaves the viewer to decide if they could find it in their hearts to support the cause by making, and being, the difference.
