You don't have to travel to Italy to enjoy a colorful Italian grape stomp. The rustic town of Julian, in the hills east of San Diego, hosts an annual Grape Stomp Festa at the lovely Menghini Winery which features the blessing of the grapes, two huge barrels for stomping, lively Italian music by the Roman Holiday Ensemble of musicians and dancers, and wine tasting offered by a dozen local vintners. Now in its 16th year, the Julian Grape Stomp attracts thousands of people from around the region over Labor Day weekend who delight in the dancing, stomping, dining and sipping enjoyed at this popular event.
