LifeFlight New Zealand - operators of the LifeFlight Air Ambulance Service and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter for the Wellington Region - hold an open day at their facility at Wellington Airport every year as a PR and fundraising opportunity. Supported by Wellington Rescue Fire, Wellington Free Ambulance, NZ Defence Force and the NZ Police as well as the major sponsor Westpac, it's an opportunity to show off - and remind people that the Government only funds a small portion of the total costs of operating such important assets.
This year I took my family to check out the Open Day and took these stills and video clips, capturing some of the equipment on display as well as a live winching demonstration from ZK-HLF, the Rescue Helicopter.
Shot on a Still Camera (so video is a compromise) but I hope it's entertaining.
Music is by 'Moon Dust', I came across them on Youtube and became suddenly fascinated... Kiwi's who feel the same should start making noises about getting them some exposure down under.
