Michal Lipson is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Cornell University, where she is doing groundbreaking research on nanophotonics—“optics on a very, very small scale,” as she describes it. She has won many awards for her work, including a MacArthur Genius grant and the prestigious Blavatnik Award.
