On Friday 14 October, the medal was presented to Menahem Pressler, a pianist of legendary renown who, over the course of a career spanning six decades, has established himself among the world's most distinguished musicians. A founder member of the great Beaux Arts Trio, with whom he made his Wigmore debut in 1961, Pressler is celebrated both as a remarkable chamber musician and an outstanding soloist. His overwhelming knowledge of piano and chamber music repertoire has also gained him an international reputation as an extraordinary teacher.

More than fifty years after he first stepped onto the Wigmore stage, Menahem Pressler joins the likes of Matthias Goerne (2007), András Schiff (2009), Felicity Lott (2010) and Thomas Quasthoff to be awarded the prestigious Wigmore Medal.
