This is a short review of some .58 caliber minie ball bullets from October Country. These musket-rifle bullets did not get a glowing review on the Cabela's web site from two consumer reviews, and I wanted to do a video review of them. I haven't shot any yet, but neither did the Cabela's reviewers, one of whom returned them just on the basis of his visual appraisal of the bullets. They cost $12.99 + S&H as of 12/2011 for a box of 20. Not overly expensive, but not cheap either. To the extent that I could inspect them, I can't say whether or not the casting voids will affect accuracy or performance. Only shooting them will be able to allow a judgment on that. It's possible that I received a better batch than the 2 reviewers on Cabela's. Who knows. To the best of my knowledge, there are not a ton of places to purchase minie ball bullets for comparison so these may beone of the few options available aside from casting them one's self.
