It's ok but I respect Metallica for trying something different. I've always admired that from them
I think it would have been a good instrumenal album and i think Lou Reed's voice killed it but I tried and listen to it like Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica but unlike that one it just didn't get better

My Favorite thing about Lulu was when it finished.
The lyrics on "Little Dog" are disgusting. I agree with you on "Dragon" and "Junior Dad". Those are great. The rest of the songs are OK, and I would recommend everybody to listen to the live versions of the songs. They played them very different and much better live.

In all seriousness though... I think the reason it sucked was because Metallica were in awe of Lou Reed and said yes to all his ideas, no matter how ridiculous they were.
I absolutely hated it.
I agree the idea was good. The concept was not a bad idea, and I also think there was elements of good riffs but again it was repetitive, repetition was a big problem for me on this album among other things.
If the songs were not repetitive in the music department and if Lou Reed vocals were good then this album could have had something going for it. Otherwise I can't stand any of it. Lyrics are terrible too, some are hilarious.
