Ed McCullough's 9th Meridian series sculpture was installed on August 15, 2011 in Kankakee Community College's main entrance patio.

According to the artist, each of the 10 Meridian sculptures requires a place -- not just a location -- where it can sink its roots and invite people into its open spaces. Arcs and circles and variants define these open spaces. The Meridian sculptures are grounded, but also airborne. They release themselves upward. They stake out boundaries and make connections with everything in and near the sculpture, including you.

The Meridian IX sculpture is a permanent fixture on KCC's campus, and is funded by the Illinois Capital Development Board's Art-in-Architecture Program.
