Greetings! Here is another quick gift that can be made from items that you may already have in your pantry! Simmering spices! I have been doing this for years, I simply take my favorite whole baking spices and place them in a small saucepan, cover them with cool water and place on the back burner of my stove on very low heat. As the water heats up and comes to a simmer, the aroma of those spices wafts throughout the house and creates a wonderful natural air freshener as well as giving the idea that you have been busy in the kitchen. You can also add dehydrated citrus peel or dehydrated orange or lemon slices to this as well to make this even more special!
Package this wonderful mixture in a small canning jar and decorate the lid with some fabric, lace and a ribbon, add a tag with instructions on how to use and give to your favorite friend at the beginning of the holidays. This will also make a great hostess gift or party favor for your holiday dinner party.
Alternatively, these can be used as old fashioned mulling spices. Simply add the mixture to 1 gallon of fresh pressed apple cider and simmer in a large stockpot for 1 hour, then enjoy! If you are brave, mix each cup with a shot of rum for a truly warming holiday experience!
I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it, as always, Happy Gifting!
