Cancer of the colon and rectum is the third most malignant cancer in California. Yet when detected early and treated promptly, colorectal cancer is one of the most curable! Regular colorectal cancer screening or testing is one of the most important methods available for preventing colorectal cancer.

Regular screening can, in many cases, prevent colorectal cancer. This is because some polyps, or growths, can be found and removed before they have the chance to turn into cancer. Screening can also result in finding colorectal cancer early, when it is highly curable.

Markstein Cancer Education and Prevention Services can provide you with the information needed to understand the role that early detection and adoption of risk-reducing lifestyle habits can play in both preventing and treating colorectal cancer.

Markstein Cancer Services is also the only center in Northern California to offer free colorectal cancer screenings to uninsured and underinsured individuals!

If you have questions about our educational programs or about participating in our upcoming colorectal screening events, please call Markstein Cancer Education & Prevention Services at (510) 869-8833, or email us at Markstein@sutterhealth.org
