This Black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans), affectionately known as "Pooper Bird" because of the huge piles of droppings it leaves behind on the patio furniture, is a master of chasing down small insects, and spends many hours each day doing so. In spite of the bird's appetite, it doesn't seem to make a dent in the insect population!
Filmed here in full 1080p HD with a Sony FS700RH at 240fps, the resulting video at 24fps yields a 10x slower than real life playback. Even though this bird is light and airy, and doesn't fly too fast, it's difficult to keep in frame and focus - especially using the full 200mm zoom as we see here. So, some of the action goes out of view at times.
