Lotte Lenya, performing "Bilbao Song" by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill from their one night flop "Happy End", the sort of sequel to "Threepenny Opera". Live at Lincoln Center in 1969 as part of an amazing tribute concert to Weill's memory, and though half the singers are 'off mike', still extraordinary. As you can hear she completely stopped the show cold (in part due to a little dance she did during the instrumental break) and the audience wouldn't let her go. So she had to repeat it. A little elderly woman who sang off key, in a foreign language, of no beauty, but who connected to the audience. Note to casting directors, that's what a star does. The technical skills are secondary. Remastered by Tormented Artist Ink Studios. A rare example of an actual showstopper.
