Mugen Review: Wonderman

Download Location listed below: Wonderman was my most anticipated character for this entire release season so I'm a happy person right now, and he's lived up to the expectations for me. He started off as just a few open source sprites from Dark Claw, but then JasonTodd finished up the rest of the sprite editing along with Daraku. And then ZVitor pulled them altogether into the character we now see with his coding.

I think the look is extremely comic accurate in every sense, looking great to me. Also, all of the sounds fit good too in how they were used. Both of these things stand out a little more when you catch the various special openings and win poses. I also enjoy his AI, as he puts his general fighting ability to very good use, as well as takes full advantage of his special and hyper move powersets. And he does all this against good competition too, which you can see in the video.

The moves stand out in a couple ways to me. First, very accurate to the comic Wonderman incarnation in how his Mugen powers are closely tied to his ionic energy abilities. I also love the general gameplay because every single move is easy to do and pull off when you need to. Great job all of you!

- Tectonic Shock: Smashes the ground causing the shifting plates to cause damage
- Wonder Upper: Stronger uppercut

- Ionic Dive: Powerful Ionic charged dive at the opponent
- Ionic Impulse: Stronger eye beam attack
- Wonder Form: Explodes with Ionic energy into a charging multitude of punch attacks

To me, I have no problems to address with this character as I thoroughly enjoy him in every capacity. Some might say he can get a little spammy with his Ionic Bullet special, but I'm not one of those people. I think this is a great character and I'm thankful that they lived up to my anticipation level. Big thanks again to ZVitor, JasonTodd, and Daraku.
