This video was recorded on Sunday July 28, 2014 at the home of Mr. Gregory Shabazz. Mr. Shabazz is a single 50 year old professional who lives in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Shabazz grew up in New York and his father belonged to the Islamic "Nation of Islam Faith." Mr. Shabazz had dedicated himself to various religions faiths and he made the decision to become associated with the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association" founded by 5 time World Karate/Kickboxing Champion Anthony "Amp" Elmore who lives in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mr. Shabazz took a long an in-dept journey at finding a Buddhist organization where he could devote himself. His choices came to investigating the various "Nichiren Buddhist Sects." His decision came down to the issue of "Buddhist Doctrine." The clear-cut reason why Mr. Shabazz chose to become a member of the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association" it issue came down to equality and inclusion. The "PBBWA" teach a Buddhism of "Inclusion." Inclusion meaning practicing the Buddhist faith that is "Inclusive of African and African/American Culture and History." While the other Buddhist sect have advantages and dis advantages, learning a Buddhist faith via a "Cultural Inclusion" was paramount to Mr. Shabazz. This video is less that 5 minutes long. This video shows what it is like for a Black Family to join a predominately African/American Buddhist Sect. The Proud Black Buddhist World Association is an independent Nichiren Buddhist Sect. They are an independent lay organization founded and operated by African Americans. This organization is one of the 1st Black Sanghas in Modern American history.
