Dallas (PA) Mountaineers (AAA 5-0) vs. Wyoming Valley West (AAAA 5-0) in what was the 2011 GAME OF THE YEAR in the Wyoming Valley Conference. Dallas prevails 28-27 after stopping Penn State recruit Eugene Lewis and the Spartans on a 2 pt attempt with one minute to go in the game. The game saving tackle was made by Dallas DE Keifer Rogers (#22) & ILB Garrett Artsma (#4). The game marked the return of Dallas' Paul Brace (#3) who made a statement by scoring the first TD of the game on a pass from QB Ryan Zapoticky (#5). The Dallas defense pressured WVWs QB Eugene Lewis into throwing 3 INTs (#23 Brett Wanek, #34 Kris Roccograndi & #11 Jason Simonovich). 6'4" Simonovich made a leaping one-handed INT of a Lewis' pass at the Dallas 5 yd line to prevent a score in the 3rd Quarter. Kudos to the Dallas Offensive Line (#54 FJ Costantino; #73 Buddy Shutlock; #50 Logan Bullock; #65 Zach Taylor & #66 Ryan Monk) which gave QB Zapoticky enough protection to run an efficient passing game (7-10-115 yds-2 TDs-0 INTs). Jim Roccograndi (#21) ran for 109 yds and a score. Standout WRs Shane Dunn (#15) had 4 catches for 51 yds and a TD while Jason Simonovich (#11) had two grabs for 49 yds. Kris Roccograndi (#34) led the Dallas defense with 15 tackles. Garrett Artsma (#4) contributed 14 tackles. Head Coach: Ted Jackson Sr. Video produced by Art Daube.
