Yanni (born Yiannis Chrysomallis, Greek: Γιάννης Χρυσομάλλης, Kalamata, Greece, November 14, 1954) is a musician, keyboardist and composer.
Yanni's parents were Chrysomallis artists and fans of classical music. Son of a singer and a guitarist, Yanni grew up listening to Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Stravinsky and other big names scholars. These eventually became the biggest influences in his career as a keyboardist and songwriter style he prefers to call it contemporary instrumental [1].

Although he had always been a lover of music, Yanni spent his childhood and teenage years devoting himself to swimming, and at 14 he already had hit records in Greece as a swimmer.

At 18, he moved to the United States, where he studied psychology at the University of Minnesota for three and a half years. However, in college he decided to abandon a career as a psychologist before you even start it, resolving to dedicate himself solely to music. At age 21, Yanni learned to play the keyboard alone and became part of a local rock band called Chameleon
