The historical Forts of Maharashtra has captured in this video, Most of the forts in Maharashtra whether up in the hills or near the seas are associated with Shivaji --the great Maratha warrior and an equally great fort builder. Moreover, these forts were treated as mini-cities, such as Panhala, which is now a hill station. The concept of the fort-city was, however, not peculiar to Shivaji alone.
Maharashtra is a land of Forts and it is renowned for its historical forts in all around the world. There are 350 historical forts in Maharashtra Only. And Every brick of it talks about the glorious history of the great Maratha rulers. Nowhere in India could such as plethora and variety of forts could be observed. Like Murud-Janjira which is located on an island, or, the fort of Bassein guarding the sea, or the forts of Torna and Raigad amidst Sahyadris, the Maharashtra Forts has everything in it from beauty to enigma. Most of these forts are associated with the great Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is believed that he developed as many as thirteen forts. Vijaydurg fort is regarded to be the best sea fort developed by Shivaji. Every fort has temple inside that was a powerful inspiration to the Maratha fighters.
510 km away from Mumbai is the famous Sindhudurg and Vijaydurg forts. This twin fort was constructed with the special guidelines from Shivaji. This fort is famous for its serene environmental beauty and its historic importance. Apart from this, vacationers can also visit the Shivner fort which is the is the fort where Shivaji was born. This fort is nearly about 120 km from Pune. Pratapgad fort reminds the fiery battle fought between Shivaji and Afzal Khan. One must see the 300-year old fine architectural fort of Lohagad and Visapur Forts, Harishchandragad Fort, Arnala Fort and Ajinkyatara Fort are ideal for trekking. Adventure lovers must visit these forts.
