Colin Bissendden from British Gas explains some common radiator problems and the remedies to resolve such issues

- Radiator cold at the top
Radiators that are cold at the top and warm at the bottom indicate trapped air within the radiator itself.

The problem can easily be remedied by switching the system off, locating a radiator key and bleeding the air out of the system via the valve at the top of the rad in question. Be sure to have plenty if rags to hand though as once the air is bled out water will follow.

- Radiator with hot-spots and cold at the bottom
This usually indicates the radiator is sludged up. If this does occur you should call for expert advice on 0800 524 4855
