Maurya Couvares is the Co-Founder of ScriptEd, Inc., a nonprofit that brings computer programming instruction to schools in low income communities and teaches students the skills necessary to pursue careers in technology. Maurya started her career as a middle school teacher in Philadelphia, and then moved to New York City to coordinate Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP's partnership with Washington Irving High School. Now, she is the Firm's Pro Bono Coordinator.

Maurya is a Huffington Post/IGNITEgood Millennial Impact Challenge winner and was selected as an American Express Emerging Innovator. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Boston College and spent a year as a visiting student at Oxford University (Mansfield College). Maurya also completed coursework in Urban Education at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education.
