This is Woonsocket's old railroad depot and commuter rail station. While this line is still used by the Providence & Worcester Railroad for freight shipping, commuter service on this line ceased in 1952 and has not been active since. Rhode Island is performing feasibility studies to see how reactivating this line for commuter rail could provide a vital link between Worcester, Woonsocket, and Providence.

On the other side of the station is a trestle which goes over Main Street and between the mill buildings before continuing on to Cumberland. Underneath the railroad trestle is the RIPTA hub connection for two bus lines (one heads to Diamond Hill Road and the box stores while the other is commuter service to Kennedy Plaza in Providence via Rt. 146 South).
