I talk about the two best solutions for this problem, which actually work. The first method involves creating Proxy Video files, and the second method converts the AVCHD H.264 video codec into the high quality & edit friendly "Cineform" codec.

For anyone who owns a GoPro HD Video Camera, you have a rather large advantage over everyone. This is because very recently Go Pro bought the "Cineform" company and now allow all users of their cameras to download the Cineform codec for FREE. So if you are a Go Pro owner, then have a go at converting your HD Video into Cineform for editing - it is going to increase the quality of your Video Projects for sure.

I would like to acknowledge and give a big thank you to a Eugenia. I discovered one of her blog posts from 2007 which explains in great detail the work flow for creating Proxy Video Files. Here is the link to her original article if anyone would like to read it. Thank you once again.
