To read my latest statement and a full update, go here: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?crea...
To all the women AND MEN out there who have gone through this, you are not alone. If you need to talk about your experience (and need a response) please go to RAINN.org. They have the time and resources to talk to people on the internet and/or phone. I don't have those resources. So if you write me, chances are I won't be able to respond.
The - 1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime - statistic comes from the FBI official website. Go check it out for yourself.
The messages I get from other victims are many, the emotional toil significant and my time, limited. So don't think I'm not responding due to lack of care. Sometimes you just have to look out for yourself.
As I mentioned above, if you need to talk to someone about this, the people over at RAINN.org are incredible and staff online private chat.
Breaking the silence is powerful.
I appreciate ALL of the love, support and concern so many of you have sent.
If you are writing to give me ADVICE, !!!stop now!!! I surround myself with people who know me personally and are thus able to truly give advice, and people who are professionals who know how best to help me maximize my life and potential.
Random Extra Facts:
- If you're here due to the article, some facts were wrong. It was little over a year before I started talking to faculty at the school. It was one or two weeks after I made this that I realized it was time to file a police report.
- The voiceover is from a letter I originally wrote to him and then realized that it would do no good. So I shared it with you, so maybe you could get something out of it.
- The video is taken from the many attempts to talk about what was happening, but couldn't.
- If the visuals look odd at all it's because it was slowed down to half speed or something like that.
- I hold nothing against the university I attended at the time. While they could have done more, change moves slowly and it's by working with that change, not complaining against it, that we see things/people/institutions, evolve.
