24 Hours in Solvang
Day 1: Rally a fun crew. Solvang is perfect for couples, groups of friends and definitely families. Arriving in Solvang from any direction is going to be beautiful. I love California.
Stay: The Petersen Village Inn is where you want to be. The staff is awesome, friendly and helpful. The location is perfection and the rooms are clean, comfy and charming.
Drink: With 12 tasting rooms in a 2mile radius you can't go wrong. We visited Lucas & Lewellen, Sort This Out (favorite), Carivintas. We might have gone to others, but we don't remember ; )
Dinner: Solvang Brewing Co. Try their local brew. I honestly don't remember much of that dinner... he he. But from the pictures I know we all definitely had a good time. (Don't judge. This post is called Sideways in Solvang.)
Day 2: Stroll over to the Greenhouse Café and indulge in the perfect brunch (and to cure your hangover). The lobster omelet is a my personal fav. Attempt to save room for a Mortensen's Danish. I LOVE the Cheese Danish and the Apple Danish (I secretly love them all, but if I were forced to choose two, it would be the ones above.) In my expert opinion the Danish in Solvang are far superior to the ones in Denmark.
Walk: Soak in this picturesque town; enjoy the architecture, shops, Danish trinkets, and the friendly people. At some point you need to visit Ingeborg's World Famous Danish Chocolates. Even if it is just to buy some for someone else (I won't tell anyone if you ate chocolates after a Danish AND brunch)
On the way out of town you can drive by the midget ponies (pretty sure that's not the proper name for them) and you can check out the cute town of Los Olivos, famous for their delish olive oil.
P.S. Once you get back home, make sure to hit the workouts extra hard.
