Jill Abramson, the first female executive editor at the New York Times, just became the first woman to be fired from the position, too, after less than three years on the job.

Apparently, Abramson discovered that her pay and pension benefits as both executive director and managing director were a lot less than Bill Keller, the guy she replaced in both jobs.

When she approached the top brass, she was given the runaround about over-generous pay packages and how Keller had been with the company for a longer period.

Abramson also had beef with CEO Mark Thompson over Church and State issues with advertising and the intrusion of the business side into the newsroom.

Abramson is being replaced by the first African-American to hold the role, Dean Baquet. At a time when Sulzberger says the paper will focus more online, it's good to know Baquet is on his social media game.
