The first few words out of your mouth when making cold calls can make or break our chance for engaging.

Get rid of the weak introductions like "How are you doing?" and "Is this a good time?" with powerful introductions like "Thanks for taking my call." and "Can you help me?"

Whatever you do, don't call to touch base and check in.
