BITE DOWN ON CAVITIES

The first toothpaste with probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus paracasei

Cavities are, after colds, the most widespread disease in the world. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), almost 5 billion people, or almost 90% of the world population, regardless of gender, are affected by cavities. Epidemiological studies have shown an alarming increase in cavity prevalence worldwide. Plidenta presents a revolutionary innovation in the fight against cavities -- Plidenta Pro-t-action toothpaste with the active probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus Pro-t-action.

Streptococcus mutans causes cavities

In order for cavities to form, several causes need to act simultaneously: an unresistant tooth, bacteria, microorganisms, food remains in the mouth, especially those that contain sugar, and the time needed for their joint action. One of the most common causes of cavities is the Streptococcus mutans bacteria. It is regarded as the bacteria most responsible for the appearance of cavities because it appears in acidic surroundings where it breaks down sugar from food into acid, which then attacks tooth enamel, decreasing the essential minerals that protect teeth, thus leading to cavities. They are very active, which is due to their ability to cling to the smooth surface of teeth, creating plaque, acid and harmful effects to tooth enamel. Other bacteria have an active role in spreading cavities after the activities most likely launched by Streptococcus mutans

How we can prevent cavities?

Your mouth is protected by useful bacteria, but it is also home to bad bacteria which cause tooth and gum disease. There is not any food for bacteria present in healthy and clean mouths. The mouth of an average person with a good daily oral hygiene index contains between 34 and 72 types of bacteria. By eliminating bad bacteria from the mouth, we can prevent the appearance of cavities and improve oral hygiene.

Plidenta Pro-t-action helps prevent cavities and plaque caused by the Streptococcus mutans bacteria, while strengthening tooth enamel.* The probiotic Lactobacillus Pro-t-action bacteria is a revolutionary innovation of the BASF Future Business GmbH company from Germany, a natural bacteria extracted from milk acid cultures that selectively links, gathers and groups cavity-causing bacteria, while brushing and rinsing simply eliminates them from the mouth. In doing so, it does not disrupt the balance of the other microorganisms in the mouth. It acts after 15 seconds, it is scent-free and flavour-free, pH neutral, it does not irritate the mucous membrane and helps maintain the healthy and useful microflora of the mouth.

Regular use of Plidenta Pro-t-action by a number of users with a very large amount of Streptococcus mutans bacteria, which is believed to be the most responsible for the appearance of cavities, decreased the amount of Streptococcus mutans significantly.

This is confirmed by clinical research results just published for the first time in the world for this toothpaste with a probiotic lactobacillus, which was conducted by two young Croatian scientists, doc.dr.sc. Dubravka Negovetić Vranić and prof.dr.sc. Martina Majstorović from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb. According to the published results, the number of tested candidates who prior to using Plidenta Pro-t-action had a very large amount of cavity forming bacteria present in their saliva decreased significantly. After only 4 weeks of use of Plidenta's toothpaste with the probiotic Lactobacillus paracasei bacteria, the number of tested candidates* with a very high number of streptococcus (≥105) fell from 78.4% to 26.5%, and the number of tested candidates with a high number of lactobacillus (≥105) fell from 52.9% to 26.5%.
"The research results conducted on this sample have suggested that regular daily use of Plidenta's new toothpaste with probiotic bacteria, whose mechanism is based on selective removal of cariogenic bacteria, contributes to reducing the risk of caries. So this toothpaste represents the most innovative domestic product currently available on our toothpaste market, whose regular use can help achieve a significant effect in the prevention of cavities. It acts as an excellent therapeutic medium which leads to the optimal ratio of good and bad bacteria in the saliva which represents a significant innovation in preventive dentistry, especially in patients at high risk for cavities and with a large number of potentially pathogenic bacteria in their mouths," concluded doc.dr.sc.Dubravka Negovetić Vranić and prof.dr.sc. Martina Majstorović in their research project.

The efficiency of Plidenta Pro-t-action toothpaste was tested on 50 healthy candidates aged between 20 and 24 years, who voluntarily participated in this study. Over the course of 4 weeks, the candidates used only Plidenta Pro-t-action toothpaste and Plidenta Expert Medium toothbrush with medium-hard bristles.
