The Merchant of Venice is one of Shakespeare's most exciting plays, filled with laughter and darkness, love and hate, forgiveness and revenge. The Jewish moneylender Shylock makes a loan to Antonio, a Christian merchant. Their loan contract; steeped in prejudice and centered on the play's infamous "pound of flesh," sweeps the two men and everyone in their worlds into chaos. The insightful Portia boldly intervenes to try and save Antonio, with unforeseen consequences for all.
This workshop performance aims to present the Bard's work in a manner that is accessible by the modern audience. Suitable for anyone studying or looking to better understand Shakespeare.
