ZX81 is a Sinclair Research computer released in 1981. It has no sound, 1Kb of memory, and black&white (monochrome) graphic in hardware resolution 64x48 pixels. BASIC is its main operating system, working on Zilog Z80 CPU 3,25Mhz.

The newest device for ZX81 users is ZXpand invented and developed by SirMorris and being sold by RWAP Software. The ZXpand gives to our ZX81:
- 32Kb of RAM,
- flash (instant) loading/saving of programs,
- SD card as an easy data-transfer with PC,
- sound of AY chip (nowadays it's mostly Yamaha YM2149, like in Atari ST and a lot of ZX Spectrum machines),
- joystick port (in the AY module),
- the port mentioned above is also a port for mouse (also in standard of Atari ST).

This demo has been made for ZX81 with ZXpand with AY-module. It's only BASIC, in a joke convention rather, but still - actually it shows for real coders what could be possible to do with the mentioned full hardware combo, if even such a bone-head like me could do anything bearable.

If You have ZX81 with ZXpand and AY-module, You can download the demo from here:
http://zx81.republika.pl/sound_demo.zip

The song from this demo is called "Rubber pleasures" and You can download its MP3 recording from here: http://yerzmyey.i-demo.pl/Yerzmyey-Ru...

Also I invite You guyz to ZX81 forum:

And now - the INFO TXT of the demo:

This demo is a version for ZX81 with ZXpand + AY.
PUT ALL FILES IN ONE CATALOGUE/FOLDER AND LOAD SDEMO.P FILE!!!!!!!!!
IT DOESN'T WORK on emulators.
**************************************************************

It *should* work on ZX81 32Kb + ZonX or Mr-X AY-interfaces but probably somebody would have to incorporate the STC file into the main sdemo.p file (especially for tape users). And change the ZXpand's syntax (info below).

##########################
The demo uses some ZXpand syntax that doesn't work on plain ZX81 (ROM issues) -
- line 8000 is for setting ZXpand's RAM into 'high' (to put there 10Kb of music),
- line 8001 is for loading from FAT (SD card) the music file MUS.STC.

Greetz to all ZX81 fans (sorry, I my brain isn't good enough to mention them all) -
