Andrew Lockie, CEO of the United Way of London & Middlesex, shares his unique perspective on the future of philanthropy. He draws connections between third-grade literacy levels and future incarceration rates, and presents a compelling argument as to why non-profit efficiency and effectiveness are not the same thing.

TEDxUWO is the official TEDx conference for The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

The theme of this inaugural conference was Own Your Passion. A total of 200 spots were reserved for audience members, while thousands more across the country joined via satellite locations and live video stream.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
