From the Borrego Springs Valley, this is a grove of lemons trees that appeared to have growth problems. Because of their lack of producton, it was necessary to remove them and replant. Years ago tree removal was performed by pushing over the trees, allowing them a few months to dry out, brushing several trees into piles and burning. In Southern California, burning is not longer permitted because of air quality controls.
